Roma, Faustina II, Sesterzio, 161-176, AE (24,60g x 35mm); D/ FAVSTINA AVGVSTA; busto drappeggiato. R/ MATRI CASTRORVM; S C; Faustina II che sacrifica su di un altare con patera di fronte a tre stendardi. RIC 1659; BMC 930 – Rara - Bel modulo; bellissimo ritratto; perfetta centratura; rovescio attrattivo e ricercato.

Mater Castrorum, ossia Madre degli Accampamenti, fu l’appellativo creato appositamente per Faustina II grazie alla sua presenza costante al seguito del marito Marco Aurelio durante le campagne militari, sia al Nord, sia durante la campagna d’Oriente, nella quale, però, trovò la morte durante una sosta in Cilicia.
